Udupi : Voters are lords in democracy, various programs are being carried out under Systematic Voter Education and Election Participation (Sweep) program to inform these voters about the importance of voting and voter’s right to exercise their right to vote in elections.
The Central Election Commission has called for the polling day to be celebrated in a festive manner and has directed polling booths to be decorated in an attractive manner on the polling day. But in Udupi, the District Sweep Committee has gone one step further and for the Assembly General Election-2023, a total of 1111 polling booths in the district have aimed to create images depicting the traditional art, culture and splendor of the district, thereby decorating the polling booths in a very attractive way.
Through the art teachers of the district, in all the 1111 polling booths, paintings depicting the cultural glory of the district including Yakshagana, Kambala, Udupi saree, Worli painting are engaged in making.
Practically, recently, more than 30 art teachers decorated 5 polling booths in Hanumantanagar School in Udupi through painting in one day, which is attracting the attention of the onlookers.
Art teachers of government schools and some aided school teachers participated in painting pictures in these polling stations, and without any compensation, they completed the work assigned to them with utmost dedication, called election duty.It is intended to use all government, private, aided and non-aided art teachers in this work to decorate all the polling booths in the district in the coming days.
The Election Commission has directed that one polling booth in each assembly constituency of all districts should be decorated in the local traditional manner. But the Udupi Zilla Panchayat officials under their innovative idea have organized all the polling booths in the district to paint pictures depicting the various art and culture rituals of the district and implemented it more effectively.
To elect the best representatives in the elections, every vote is crucial and awareness and awareness are being created by the District Sweep Committee through innovative programs so that all the voters come to the polling booths enthusiastically to exercise their rights. As a part of it, all the 1111 polling booths of the district are intended to paint attractive pictures depicting the traditional art and culture of the district, thereby, an effort is being made to draw the attention of the voters towards the polling booth and make them fully involved in the voting process. Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prasanna H said that the art teachers of the district are giving good cooperation to this innovative effort.
