Theft case in Mangalore-Mumbai Express train

Udupi : The Manipal police, who conducted a lightning operation in connection with the theft of gold jewelery worth 4 lakhs from a woman’s vanity bag on March 14th afternoon at Indrali railway station, have succeeded in arresting two criminals.

 

The arrested persons have been identified as 41-year-old Lalitha Bovi and 64-year-old Sushilamma Bovi, residents of Hanumanta Nagar in Bhadravati taluk. Puneeth Vasant Hegde of Kuttaru village of Kapu taluk boarded an express train at Indrali railway station to go to Mumbai with his family on March 14 afternoon. After sitting on the seat and looking at the bag, it was found that the jewelery was stolen. A case was registered in Manipal Police Station regarding this.
The police launched an operation and with the cooperation of the railway police managed to track down the accused within 8 hours after reviewing the CCTV footage. Jewelery worth Rs 4.03 lakh stolen from the accused has been recovered.
