Udupi : SIO Karnataka has prepared a student manifesto for the political parties contesting in this year’s Karnataka state assembly elections to include the issues of student and youth demands in their manifesto and to hold a referendum to judge the votes of the youth on these rights, SIO said that the parties should ensure their sincere efforts and commitment to fulfill these demands. Talking about this in a press conference held in the city, SIO State Secretary Mohammad Afwan said that Udupi district needs a government medical college. Government Medical College is a long time demand. If a medical college is established, medical education will be within the reach of talented students from the poor and middle class. Although the government has already announced the establishment of a PPP model college, it has not made any proposal in this year’s budget. He demanded that this should be mentioned in the manifesto of this election.
The demand of the students is that a government engineering college should be established in Udupi district. Most of the schools and colleges in Udupi are located next to the main roads and crossing the road daily is a big headache for the students. So such areas should be identified and overpass constructed. Youth in the district are the target of drug addiction and in this regard, he demanded that government rehabilitation clinics should be set up in important centers of the district.
